Job Description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide oversight and management of the Corporate Actions Department, including but not limited to:

  • Monitor, analyse and interpret incoming Corporate Action announcements received from external data vendors;
  • Ensure correct and timely end-to-end processing of all Corporate Action and Dividend events impacting clients of our CFD/SB & Investments business, including both voluntary and optional events;
  • Timely event notification and collation of client responses (if required);
  • Ensure correct and timely processing of all Corporate Action and Dividend events on our CFD/SB hedge book;
  • Identify and highlight to the Dealing Desk any commercial opportunities that may arise from our hedging of corporate action events;
  • Liaise with external counterparties to ensure accurate and timely election of optional events;
  • Reconciliation of client, hedge and custody positions both pre and post corporate action event;
  • Ensure sufficient communication of Corporate Action and Dividend events is maintained with our internal departments to enable them to assist with client queries;
  • Calculate and submit 1042 payments to the IRS on a weekly basis;
  • Identify potential improvements in processes and project manage implementation;
  • Provide operational oversight and serve as an escalation point for any Corporate Action related matters;
  • Build and manage the Corporate Actions function within Operations, ensuring appropriate resource availability at all times;
  • Maintain personal/professional development to meet the changing demands of the role;
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality;
  • Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of end-to-end processing of mandatory and optional Corporate Action events, across multiple markets (essential requirement).
  • An understanding of the economic impact of Corporate Action and Dividend events on the underlying share price (essential requirement)
  • Previous experience of building and/or managing/supervising a Corporate Actions Team (preferred but not essential)
  • Knowledge of CFD/SB and Equity products
  • IT competent, particularly MS Office.
  • Methodical and thorough approach to tasks, able to work to deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Numerate.
  • Working knowledge of Reuters/Bloomberg.
  • Working knowledge of financial markets and related products.
  • Experience within Financial sector.
