For our Risk Monitoring Team we are looking for a determined and accurate Transaction Monitoring Specialist (medior level). In this role you will monitor and investigate suspicious financial activity.

What this job is all about!

You will be part of a growing 1st line of defense Risk Monitoring Team currently consisting of seven experienced and driven colleagues working closely together. The team itself is part of the larger Risk & Compliance organization. The core responsibility of the team is to ensure full compliance with all regulatory rules and laws, adhere to scheme compliance and prevent financial losses from fraud. The role reports to the Manager Monitoring and you will work in close contact with Compliance, Credit Risk, KYC, Finance and Sales teams.

Getting the right things done

  • Review alerts and conduct investigations for possible Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing or Corruption;
  • Perform 4 eyes checks on alerts handled by other team members;
  • Monitor merchant transactions and patterns to detect changes and/or deviations in merchant activity;
  • Recommend and initiate appropriate follow up actions based on the outcome of the investigation (e.g. FIU reporting, request event driven reviews, initiate exit procedures);
  • Ensure adequate and timely reporting to the 1st line Risk department (KYC) and the 2nd line Compliance department;
  • Assess and respond to requests from stakeholders (e.g. Compliance, FIU, Police);
  • Draft reports regarding AML/Transaction Monitoring related topics to create awareness within EMS;
  • Assist in the periodic review of business rules with the objective to further enhance the effectiveness of the transaction monitoring system;
  • Create new and enhance existing risk monitoring policies and procedures.

We would like you to have

  • A Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Economics or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of Dutch legislation such as Wft, Wwft, Sanctions law and able to analyze, interpret and explain how they could impact EMS’ activities;
  • Risk aware, disciplined and highly accurate;
  • Determined and result oriented;
  • Strong analytical skills, eager to learn and flexible;
  • A true team player; well able to work together and independently;
  • Excellent communication skills English. French or Dutch is considered a plus.
