Job Description
You will join the IT Department’s Systems & Storage team, whose role is to provide reliable compute and storage solutions for the bank. This includes on-prem and public cloud infrastructure, as well as optimized bare-metal and virtualized stacks.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in *nix systems, optimization skillsets and ability of integrating open-source solutions within a corporate environment. Your expertise will help guide your team to improve their stack and work towards providing Infrastructure as a Service.
With your team, you will work closely with IT architects and Performance Analysts to plan and execute the department’s long term technical objective of providing hyperscalers-like cloud capabilities on-premises.
Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable and secure Linux-based systems and infrastructure.
Perform regular system updates, patches, and configuration changes.
Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to prevent downtime.
Collaborate with engineers to ensure systems are designed to meet business needs.
Develop and maintain documentation for system architecture and processes.
Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability, and meets our RTO/RPO’s objectives.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for Linux-related issues.
Automate system administration tasks using frameworks such as Ansible or Terraform.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering role.
Proven experience in managing complex IT environments and contributing to large-scale infrastructure projects.
Extensive experience in alternate industries such as telco, manufacturing, aviation or pharmaceutics.
Strong understanding of server infrastructure, cloud computing, SAN, NAS, and DAS, storage and distributed storage architecture.
Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working with multi-functional technical and business teams, along with different levels of management to influence decision making.
Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling (puppet, ansible, terraform, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with LXC, KVM, VMWare, proxmox, containerd, podman.
Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Java, Python, Rust, .Net, C, C++, Perl, Ruby, or Go.
Familiarity with Kubernetes Infrastructure management (Juju/MaaS/CDK, openshift, foreman).
Linux certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), LPIC (Linux Professional Institute Certification), or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of network architecture and cybersecurity. Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP and other network protocols.
Experience with ITIL processes and frameworks.
