As a Junior Compliance Officer, you will support the compliance function within an organization by assisting in the implementation, monitoring, and enforcement of regulatory and internal compliance policies and procedures. Your role is critical in helping the organization adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, mitigate compliance risks, and maintain a culture of integrity and ethical conduct. Please note that at least one day of the workweek will include a weekend shift.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance Monitoring: Assist in conducting compliance monitoring activities to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry best practices.
Regulatory Research: Stay informed about relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory updates impacting the organization's operations, and assist in assessing their implications on compliance obligations.
Policy and Procedure Development: Assist in the development, review, and update of compliance policies, procedures, and guidelines to reflect changes in regulations and business operations.
Training and Awareness: Support compliance training initiatives by assisting in the development of training materials, conducting training sessions for employees, and promoting awareness of compliance requirements.
Risk Assessment: Assist in conducting compliance risk assessments to identify areas of potential non-compliance and develop strategies to mitigate risks effectively.
Reporting and Documentation: Assist in preparing compliance reports, documentation, and filings required by regulatory authorities, internal stakeholders, and senior management.
Investigations and Remediation: Assist in conducting compliance investigations into potential breaches or violations, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement remedial actions and corrective measures.
Internal Controls: Assist in evaluating and enhancing internal controls related to compliance processes and procedures to strengthen the organization's control environment and minimize compliance risks.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Law, or related field. A specialization or coursework in compliance, risk management, or legal studies is preferred.
Relevant Experience: Entry-level position with 1-2 years of experience in compliance, risk management, auditing, or a related field. Previous experience in a regulated industry or financial services sector is advantageous.
Knowledge of Regulatory Framework: Basic understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements applicable to the organization's industry, such as anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), data privacy, and consumer protection regulations.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess compliance risks, identify issues, and propose effective solutions.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing documentation, conducting compliance assessments, and preparing reports.
Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey compliance requirements, policies, and procedures to employees at all levels of the organization.
Ethical Conduct: Commitment to upholding ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism in carrying out compliance responsibilities.
