We are looking for a new Head of Business Banking Strategy to play a key role in shaping the future strategic agenda of Nordea Business Banking by driving implementation of strategic direction and initiatives. Business Banking offers banking and advisory products and services to our small and medium-sized corporate customers. Business Banking also includes Transaction Banking which provides payments and international trade services and Nordea Finance, which provides asset-based lending

What you’ll be doing:
Strategic Planning & Direction: Lead the development and execution of long-term strategic plans for business banking, ensuring alignment with group goals, financial targets, customer trends and the competitive environment
Functional Strategies: Ensure that functional strategies are in place across products and segments ensuring alignment to overall direction and targets and ensure they build towards an exceptional customer experience
Strategy Execution: Establish KPIs and track performance across business banking to measure success and inform adjustments to strategies and initiatives
Thought leadership and Advisory: Provide though leadership and strategic advisory to senior leaders across business banking equipping them with the insights and tools to make high quality strategic decisions
Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with teams across frontline, product, digital and business services, as well as other business areas across the group to deliver optimum outcomes for our customers and the group
Leading and development: Lead and mentor a high performing strategy team fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership and curiosity. You’ll lead a team of 5-6 highly skilled specialists within strategy and execution and you will be reporting to Michael Peter Lee Miller Smith, Head of Nordea Business Banking Office. You will also be a member of Business Banking Office leadership team. The role can be based in any Nordic country.

To succeed in this role, we believe that you:
Strategic Vision & Execution: Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and execution, particularly in the business banking or financial services sector
SME Banking Expertise: Strong knowledge of SME banking business models and associated products (e.g. payments, cash management, lending, risk management) and an understanding of segment-specific needs
Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis, financial modelling and market research to support decision-making with the ability to bring clarity to complex problems
Leadership & Collaboration: Proven ability inspire cross-functional teams and work collaboratively, as well as lead from the front with a hands-on doer attitude
Adaptability & Innovation: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive and innovative mindset to tackle complex challenges with many degrees of freedom
Communication & Influence: Strong written and verbal communication skills to present insights and strategic recommendations to senior executives
Your experience and background:
Proven Strategic Leadership: Relevant experience in strategy and strategy implementation with a proven ability to craft and execute strategies that drive growth and enhance market positioning. E.g. Top Tier Consulting Firms or strategy functions in leading multinational companies
Corporate / SME Banking Expertise: Deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by corporates and/or SME clients across micro, small, and medium enterprise segments, including experience with relevant business models & products
Digital Transformation & Fintech Acumen: Strong familiarity with emerging trends in digital banking and fintech, including open banking, API-driven platforms, AI/ML for customer insights, and digital-first customer experiences
Data-Driven Decision Making: Skilled in using data and financial analysis, customer segmentation, etc. to inform strategy and guide targeted initiatives. Experience with performance management frameworks to track, measure, and optimise strategic initiative impact
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Extensive experience working closely with product, sales, technology, risk and operations teams, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders toward a common strategic vision and ensure seamless execution across functions
