Your role in the Team

The Direct Market Access (DMA/L2) system is responsible for connecting IG to Equity, Forex, Futures and ETP markets around the world and operate in a 24/5+ environment.

Our software is used by IG's dealing desks, client managers, trading services teams to help clients, hedge IG's risk and monitor our execution systems. We also make parts of it accessible to clients. We provide IG with access to multiple markets through multiple brokers, liquidity providers and venues and all are routed through the DMA and our Order Management System (OMS).

The new L2 Backend team will be working on decoupling backend and middleware services from DMA/L2 system to achieve new modern and robust target architecture.

What You’ll Do

As a software engineer in the L2 Backend team, you'll take ownership of your work from elaboration to delivery. You'll take requirements and develop & extend solutions, test them and work with our stakeholders to deliver them.

This Will Include

  • Interact with our senior developers and architects to analyse needs and requirements
  • Design and code solutions to meet these requirements
  • Deliver high-quality support and assurance as the work is rolled out
  • Ability to grow in the role and take ownership of projects end to end
  • Ability to learn and innovate!
  • Tech stack: Spring, Spring Boot, Java 11 mostly, Scala, Akka, Confinity Low Latency Messaging

What You’ll Need For This Role

  • Proven Java development experience.
  • Proficiency in design at system and component levels and able to take ownership of features.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and able to eventually join the support rota.
  • A good understanding of the Agile process.
  • Excellent communication skills – the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues and stakeholders
