ABOUT THE ROLE
BDM's are responsible for the growth and volume targets for our merchant partners across a range of industries including home improvement, education & medical. A successful candidate will be able to leverage their existing industry and networking experience to:
Achieve monthly merchant acquisition targets
Create & implement a range of strategies to identify and target new merchants at a micro and macro level
Achieve monthly sales volume targets
Foster long-term strategic relationships with key merchant partners
Create and implement sales product training, both internally and externally (to merchant sales teams)
Identify new business partnerships outside of the usual channels, presenting an opportunity to cross-sell finance products (e.g – B2B partnerships, broker channels, industry associations)
Assist with the implementation of marketing plans, merchant/sales incentive programs and promotions
Ensure all new merchants are on-boarded with training material, sales resources, and marketing resources for all relevant finance products
Provide training, coaching and support to account managers
Make recommendations on improving the merchant onboarding and point of sale finance process
Reporting to senior management on the performance of sales
Dealing with merchant complaints and account enquiries that are outside the scope of sales team members or account managers.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a BDM / Sales Manager
A highly driven, self-motivated, and tenacious attitude
Excellent sales skills with experience in both B2C and B2B
Exceptional deployment of sales tactics, and highly developed relationship-building and negotiation skills
Able to deal with people at decision making & influencer levels.
Industry-related experience in home improvement or finance is highly preferred
A high level of business acumen with a strategic focus
Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to drive, lead, manage, and create a sales pipeline.
Computer Literacy - in particular spreadsheet, word-processing, presentation and database applications, including CRM’s
Strong time management skills and ability to work to deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple departments and senior management, developing strong internal relationships.
Working knowledge of compliance within the finance industry and related legislative regulations
Prior experience working in sales within the home improvement industry will be looked upon favourably
